How to Mute Discord Notifications

Discord offers granular notification controls to help you manage alerts from servers, channels, and direct messages.

Mute Entire Servers

1. Right-click on the server icon
2. Select "Mute Server"
3. Choose duration:
   • 15 minutes
   • 1 hour
   • 8 hours
   • 24 hours
   • Until I turn it back on
4. Optionally suppress @everyone and @here mentions

Mute Specific Channels

1. Right-click on the channel name
2. Select "Mute Channel"
3. Choose mute duration
4. Channel will appear with a muted icon

Global Notification Settings

1. Click Settings gear icon (⚙️)
2. Go to "Notifications"
3. Configure global settings:
   • Enable desktop notifications
   • Enable unread message badge
   • Enable taskbar flashing
   • Enable notification sounds

Mobile Notification Settings

On iOS/Android:

1. Tap your profile picture
2. Go to "Notifications"
3. Configure mobile-specific settings:
   • Push notifications
   • Mobile push timeout
   • Vibrate settings
   • LED color (Android)

Advanced Notification Controls

Suppress @everyone and @here:

1. Server Settings → Notifications
2. Toggle "Suppress @everyone and @here"
3. Prevents mass ping notifications

Direct Message Notifications:

1. Settings → Notifications
2. Configure DM notification settings
3. Set notification sound
4. Enable/disable notification badge

Do Not Disturb Mode

1. Click your profile picture
2. Set status to "Do Not Disturb"
3. Notifications will be paused
4. Red status indicator shows to others

Keyword Notifications

1. Settings → Notifications
2. Add keywords to monitor
3. Get notified when keywords appear
4. Useful for staying alert to specific topics

System-Level Controls

Windows:

• Windows Settings → System → Notifications
• Find Discord in app list
• Disable Discord notifications entirely

macOS:

• System Preferences → Notifications
